iPhone in Asia 2008? Expected the Unexpected

I’ve been keep tracking what the market analysts have said for this breakthrough technology since the first day Apple announced that it going to launch iPhone. A sad news for Asians is we had to wait for quite some time particularly in 2008 in order to use it. By the time Apple released iPhone in 2008, iPhone may well not be the iPhone model that I saw on the Apply home page. It might be the second version of iPhone, hopefully it is also available in Asian countries too. People are now talking about iPhone, its supreme functionality, innovative user interface, smart keyboard, and etc. All sort of stories, and people like to tell stories, it make me believed that because of all these sort of stories, we would fall in love with this tiny thing subconsciously. I foresee that most blogs would eventually talk about iPhone, especially the technology blogs. Count me in. When blog holders decided to changed the iPhone’s topic issues, the impact of iPhone will still be there and not eventually fade away easily. However, the carrier problem will still remain in my mind, especially Apple had an exclusive deal with Cingular, I’m still not sure how Apple would sort out its problem in finding a good mobile carrier in Asian countries. In other word, are we expected the unexpected.
In the perspectives of consumer behavior, an important input is how consumers especially for those reside outside of the U.S., how they see this thing. In one of the dimensions of marketing mix, i.e. proud to own it first and fast, Europeans and Asians had to wait for some time in order to get the services of this tiny thing. Do you want to own a thing where some of your friends have used it for one year before you get your first touch on it. I think consumers shall always want to own a product that scheduled to be released on the same day regardless where he/she lives in. If they all get the product released to them at the same time, the issue of product that coined as cultural incompatible won’t appeared definitely. And therefore, I strongly believed Apple or whatever company that should leverage on the real-time or time-based strategy to achieve a higher economies of scale.
I think this real-time tactic will eventually becomes a norm in the market. I believed most Asians are talking about Windows Vista that to be launched end of this month at the same time globally instead of this iPhone. Fast and at the same time will become the consumer preferences. When we have a common topics of interest, we are no longer strangers. No matter where I live, which college I attended to, how stupid sometimes I am, we are friends.
