Baidu Video Beta Launched

baiduvideo2

I have previously blogging on Baidu Video few days ago, in a post that entitled, “Baidu Video To Be Launched,” I talked about the video search that going to be launched by Baidu. Today, I came across that Baidu has officially launched its video search engine.

As I use one of the keywords such as “盖茨 (Bill Gates)” to search some of the videos, the search results is showed as the above picture. Most of the search results are derived from ku6.com, dv.ouou.com, v.blog.sina.com.cn (Sina Video Blog), biku.com, and 6rooms.com.

I try to understand why there is a need for Baidu to provide video search. Despite the success of its search engine, threats loomed as the market shifted, more and more people tend to visit video sites nowadays. I maintain a belief that Baidu Video is not an innovation, but it’s worth to mention it as Baidu is really, really big in China Internet market. It’s still not too late for Baidu venture into this field. Last December, Baidu launched blog search, now video search, these competitive offerings will eventually help Baidu maintain its market leadership in China.
