Guruji Launched Indian Language Search

Guruji is the first Indian search engine and has been founded by two Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi alumnus. It is a Bangalore-based company that launched in October last year and has been secured $7 million fund from Sequoia Capital India. Guruji initially available in English, but today they have added few Indian vernacular languages, i.e. Hindi, Kannada, and Telugu. Guruji also planned for information or data searches that available in Tamil and Bengali in the near future, according to a press release. However, the Indian languages query has temporarily only available for Internet Explorer browser.

When it came to running searches on the Web, Guruji could provide some of the City Search results to its users. Currently Guruji’s search capabilities included 16 major cities in India and the latest city that they offered is Pune. A search engine can be judged as good or worse through its capability in handle search queries or page views per day but the number of queries Guruji handled per day was still in stealth mode today.
