My Opera Redesigns
My Opera, a community site that designed to complement the existing services offered by Opera, had a new design starting from March 8. On the web page, you will notice there are sections such as member of the week, photo albums, featured members, blogs, Opera product forums, member interviews, groups, and mobile zone. Currently My Opera has nearly 700,000 members worldwide, and less than one-third of them host their own blogs or photo albums on My Opera. As compared to the old My Opera site that I seen before, this one definitely has a better layout and the contents are split up in a nice manner. Moreover, My Opera changed its header from the popular red color to this gray color. The motto is no longer the “Simply the Best Internet Experience”, which replaced by the following statement, “extraordinary - beautiful - vibrant - personal.”
The launched of this new site is designed to suit the needs of most of My Opera’s existing users. Though I do not see the economical sense of this site, it is clearly that My Opera’s intention to redesign the site is to further retain its users for a significant number of years. As I read My Opera’s official blog, they will organize a CSS Blog Design Contest in order to create a learning culture and members’ participation. For most of the companies, to induce their users to make repeat visits shall always the challenges for them, but it is not insurmountable.
