Chesspark Raises $1 Million

A chess game Web 2.0 site Chesspark has raised $1 million. Angel investors include Jon Callaghan of True Ventures, Burnt Norton, Inc. and Eaglebrook School. According to Chesspark, they will use the fund for the purpose of completing the beta tests of their online chess game. Chesspark, launched in October last year, their goal is to provide the best chess playing experience on the Web and currently there are more than 100,000 users enrolled in this Web 2.0 site. The co-founder of Chesspark Brian Zisk is a serial entrepreneur and in matter of fact, he is also a Board Member and/or Strategic Advisor for several tech companies and non-profits, including the Metabrainz Foundation creators of MusicBrainz, the Xiph Foundation creators of Open Source Audio and Video technologies including Icecast, Vorbis, FLAC, and Theora, Clickfacts, Inc., Rightround/Bandbot, Kiptronic, Inc., Gotuit Media, and more.

At this moment, users who sign-up their trial accounts could try the games until the beta tests end before Quarter 3 of this year for free. Meanwhile, there are also “paid” full account that is either $2.49 for 1 month, $8.99 for three months, and $24 for 1 year.

Chesspark is based in Florida, and they’re actively involved in sponsor organizations such as Be Someone and Hip-Hop Chess Federation.
