Microsoft is rolling out a digital-party invitation tool to its Live services. The service is called Windows Live Events. It works much the same as a popular Web invitation tool evite and allowed the existing Windows Live users to create an event and send the invites to their friends. Users can choose one of the 100 predesigned templates ranging from birthday, dinner, farewell, etc. available on the Live Events site, and fill in the time and place of the planned event, or add a map and send to the invitees. In order to use this Windows Live Events, the person who planned the party must owned a Live ID, but it is not necessary for the invitees to open the Windows Live account to response to the invitation. The whole invitation process is relatively simple, the one who planned and create the invites just need to do the steps as stated in above and the Live Events page will keep track of who’s attending or who’s not and users can link the party details to their Microsoft’s Outlook or Mac’s desktop calendar iCal.

Microsoft will promote this Windows Live Events service to the Live Spaces community that currently operates in 56 markets worldwide. However, this service is not something new on the Web. As mentioned above, evite is doing tremendously well at this moment, and there are players such as Socializr, created by the founder of Friendster and Renkoo that keep on creating and meeting their users’ needs over time.
