Microsoft has announced the availability of Live Search 411, a goal to make its Live platform an integrated suite of services. If you know about Goog 411, you’ll think that Microsoft is coming from behind. I don’t want to say Microsoft is lagged behind in all the search services that offered at this moment, but I don’t think users will choose this Live Search 411 to the exclusion of Goog 411, or any similar service to be launched in the future. I see it as Microsoft’s serious attempt to propel their business growth and fill out its lineups of Live online services.

Presently, Live Search 411 is a new service enables their users to find phone numbers and directions, from the local listings such as businesses and restaurants, to movie showtimes, get tickets, or hear the current weather and forecasts, etc. Users can dial 1-800-CALL-411 from any phone to find and access to the aforesaid information. My sense is that this service will works almost the same as Goog 411, and the firm which developed this kind of technology will find extremely difficult in differentiate itself from other players that offered the similar services.

This Live Search 411 is based on the technology of Microsoft and Tellme Networks, a firm that acquired by Microsoft in May this year.
