PageRank and RealRank

Today Google Operating System blog has wrote an article entitled, “PageRank and Page Links,” explaining why Google dropped the PageRank (PR) of some sites to 0. Fundamentally, a high PR value of a site has significant value towards its advertising worth in the market. The higher the PR of a site, the more valuable its advertisements appeared on its site. Over time, the PR algorithm, coupled with Google’s search technology, was able to helped Google in delivering fast and reliable searches. Thus, it’s not surprise that every site holder will want their sites to get a higher PR.
Now, those sites which had the reduced PR values or their PR values are being reduced to zero could have a new metrics that measure their sites’ “importance” in a new way. It called RealRank, as a means to solve the PR system, as they said, “I we believe we have a solution and that solution is RealRank.” Their formula is relatively simple.
70% weighted towards visitors per day
20% weighted towards amount of ACTIVE inbound links per day
10% weighted towards pageviews per day
RealRank service will probably release to the public within these two weeks. Meanwhile, I believe the paying advertisers would have difficulty justifying the importance of a particular site with a high RealRank but a low PR value.
