In Search For A Better Web Traffic Measurement System

Just came across an interesting article entitled, “The Travails of Tracking Web Traffic,” that discussed the needs of a better way to tracking Web traffic.

Some excerpts from this article:

At first, Digg Chief Executive Jay Adelson thought he just couldn’t count. By Digg’s estimate, 15 million individuals were visiting the news bookmarking site each month. But advertisers said the site wasn’t nearly that popular. Other yardsticks, like the one used by comScore, put the numbers between 1 million and 2 million a month.

And this intrigued me to visit quantcast for the Digg.com’s Web traffic, and it showed the monthly unique visitors of Digg was approx. 6.2 million, as shown in the picture below.
